    Description

All vintage electronic items I sell are sold "as-found, as-described, and as-is" with no warranties expressed or implied unless stated otherwise. No return/refund!
Featured in this auction, is a Nakamichi cassette deck manufactured in Japan between 1973-1977. The price back in the 1970's was 0! It was made to rival the quality of the open reel decks of that time, and some open reel decks didn't even cost that much. This was probably one of the most sophisticated cassette decks, when introduced nearly 50 years ago. It comes in the original factory (double) carton. I do not have the owners manual. original patch cords are included. Power cord is hard wired. The machine is in super clean cosmetic condition for its age, and has probably been stored away in its carton for a number of years. It powers up, and the meters fluctuate slightly when it is turned on. It rewinds and fast forwards a tape, but play/record do not engage. I suspect that the head assembly has hardened grease and will not engage with the cassette. Both capstans are turning. No doubt the entire tape drive system will need cleaning and lubrication. It will most likely need belts, and idler wheel(s) as well. It appears as though the record head azimuth was never tampered with as there is a clear sticker over the adjustment screw from the factory, that has not been removed, or poked through. Being that this is in such good cosmetic condition, I would consider it worthy of restoration, rather than just a parts donor, but that is entirely up to the new owner. Please see the photos, and feel free to email with questions regarding this item. Please note that this will be packed in a very large carton, and will probably weigh close to 45 pounds, once it is boxed up. In its factory cartons it weighs 37 pounds! This is the reason for the high shipping cost. If I can find an outer carton somewhat  smaller prior to the end of the auction, I will update the dimensions, so PLEASE do not send payment prior to receiving an invoice!
I ship internationally to many countries (see "exclusions list"). I will NOT falsify/omit ANY information on Customs forms, and the item will be insured for the amount of the high bid. Payment due within 48 hours of invoice-no exceptions! Local pick up of items is always welcome, with cash being the preferred method of payment, or directly to eBay in avance. Social distancing guidelines will be followed.
