Description
This is for an April 3 1955 program from the very first race ever held at Vineland Speedway in Vineland New Jersey. This is about as rare as racing programs come. Vineland would be the home track for hot shoes like Al Tasnady, Jackie McLaughlin and Elton Hildreth. The program is in pretty delicate condition as the front page is only held onto the program by about an inch about a quarter way down the spine. Being such a small local track that was just starting out, the paper the program was printed on was extremely thin. The program begins with a welcome by promoters Bill Nocco and Tony Coccaro telling fans they have gone all out in an effort to make Vineland Speedway the most modern and fastest track in the East. Theres a great promotional photo of hometown driver Al Tasnady shaking hands and congratulating the co-promoters after taking his 119 around the track on a test spin. If you are a collector of rare defunct tracks, this is the program for you. New Jersey was once home to almost 100 local tracks over the years and all but a few have gone by the wayside.Check out the scan and email with any questions.
